Wildfire is a reality of living on Crooked River Ranch. Our goal is to educate our community on how they can mitigate the hazards associated with living in a wildfire area and provide them with resources and information.
The Jefferson County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) is a county-wide, strategic assessment of the risks, hazards, and mitigation and prevention opportunities associated with wildfire in our communities. The CWPP group also prepared a Living With Fire: Wildfire Preparedness Plan with useful information for property owners.
The Firewise Communities program also has a number of resources for homeowners including everything from creating defensible space and landscaping techniques to more advanced information on the science of wildfires and how they ignite homes. They also provide tipsheets and tools for communicating with your neighbors.
In addition, there is a Fuels Reduction Grant program for our area.
