In 1976, in cooperation with the developer of Crooked River Ranch, W.R. (Bill) MacPherson, residents Bob Ward, Jack McMillan, Bob Arnold and Ken Yost petitioned for the formation of the Crooked River Ranch Rural Fire Protection District. In 1977 the Fire District was officially formed by a vote of the people, and Ken Yost was appointed as the first Fire Chief. Prior to this there was no fire protection or emergency medical services available on the Ranch.
Originally the district was staffed entirely by volunteers. This staffing continued until the late 1990's when the first staff were hired to supplement the volunteers.. Today we are a modern, full service department providing fire, rescue, and emergency medical services for our community. We continue to have both career and volunteer staff that help us maintain our service delivery to our community.
2017 marks Crooked River Ranch Fire & Rescue's 40th year of service to our community. We thank the people of Crooked River Ranch for their continued support of the District so that we may continue our mission to protect lives, property, and environment. We would not be successful without your support!
